Topics:
The Workshop will serve as a platform for researchers, experts and environmental organizations from Asia and others countries to interact, share knowledge and expertise as well as build capacity in research and education on climate change and the urban environment. An important objective is to discuss future actions and establishment of a special interest group on climate change and the urban environment under the aegis of ANCST, which would then implement the actions and coordinate with other groups in Asia working on climate change. Topics to be discussed in the workshop including:-
- Present /future Asian urban met and climate (data, modelling, types of Asian megacity, downwind / mesoscale effects)
- Pollution and environment – data requirements, modelling, trends in emissions including forest burning, transport technology, etc.;
- Urban environment as it affects individuals and whole population (heat, water vapour, air pollutions, high/low winds, urban flooding);
- Urban-coastal-mountain environmental interactions;
- Halocarbon and other emerging pollutants;
- Effect of pollution to regional weather and climate;
- Long-range transports of atmospheric pollutants on downstream climate;
- PM2.5 and the cleaning technologies;
- Clean Energy and Low Carbon Transport;
- Interaction between air pollutants and climate change
- How to mitigate adverse effects- transport planning and technology, urban planning, flood control, dealing with complex effects/ solutions (e.g. desertification, forest fires, power sources, etc.)
- New sources of data -satellites, met and tv towers, social media etc.
- Future Cities
Papers in the above areas are invited for the workshop. Selected technical papers will be recommended to the Journal of Environmental Sciences (JES) for publication. Research students may apply for travel cost if funds are needed, this is based on first-come, first-served basis.

- 15 July 2015 Submission of full manuscript
- 30 Sept 2015 Announcement of the recommended publications

Participants are responsible for securing their entry visas to China. Participants are requested to check with the Chinese Embassy in their respective countries regarding visa requirements and application procedures.
