Launching Ceremony of Malaysia-Window-to-Cambridge@UKM

malaysia-window-to-cambridge

The Malaysia Window to Cambridge (MW2C@UKM) is the culmination of a collaboration that was initiated in 2012 that led to the signing of the Cooperation Agreement between Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and the Cambridge Malaysian Education and Development Trust (CMEDT), in Association with the Malaysian Commonwealth Studies Centre (MCSC) on 19 November 2013 to establish the Asian Network for Climate Science and Technology (ANCST). The central aim of MW2C@UKM is capacity-building in Malaysia and the region, in skills to do with atmospheric science and climate change, particularly the proficiencies that Malaysia and the region would require for future disaster prevention. The MW2C@UKM will also serve to facilitate junior staff and student exchanges to enhance awareness and strengthen ties between the University of Cambridge and UKM, and serve as a gateway to Cambridge for scientists from Malaysia and Asia. The MW2C@UKM is jointly administered by UKM’s Southeast Asia Disaster Prevention Initiative (SEADPRI-UKM) and the Asian Network on Climate Science and Technology (ANCST) with support from the MCSC/CMEDT.

Fellowships will be made available to enable young scientists from Malaysia and Asia to participate in the MW2C@UKM. Application for the fellowship will be opened on 19 January 2017 1200 GMT.
